Wang Zhong [1] , born in Beijing in January 1963, graduated from the Sculpture Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1988, is currently a professor, doctoral tutor, dean of the School of Urban Design, dean of the Institute of Urban Design and Innovation, Director of the China Public Art Research Center, consultant of the Beijing Municipal People’s Government Expert Advisory Group, vice chairman of the China Urban Sculptor Association, deputy director of the National Urban Sculpture Art Committee, executive director of the China Sculpture Society, and art committee member of the International Dynamic Art Organization.
He has won the China Environmental Art Outstanding Contribution Award, New China Urban Sculpture 60 Years Construction Achievement Award, Chinese Sculpture "Xu Beihong Award", Liu Kaiqu International Sculpture Jury Award, Jing Qilin Life Artist and other important art awards.
As the leader of the public art discipline of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Professor Wang Zhong has been committed to domestic and foreign Research work in the field of public art.
In 2000, he founded China's first public art undergraduate teaching studio in the Sculpture Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts.
In 2005, he founded the Department of Public Art in the School of Urban Design of the Central Academy of Fine Arts.
In 2007, he presided over the project of "Comparative Research on Public Art Investment Policies in Chinese and Foreign Cities" by the Ministry of Construction.
In 2008, he was employed to plan the opening and closing ceremonies of the 29th Beijing Olympic Games, and was awarded the "Work Honor Award" by the Beijing 2008 Olympic Organizing Committee.
In 2009, he presided over the public art design of Shanghai World Expo Park.
From 2011 to 2015, presided over the public art project of Beijing Metro Line 8, 9, 14, 15, and 16, and presided over the public art project of Qingdao Metro Line M2 and M3
In 2015, presided over the overall planning and design of public space art in the core area of Beijing CBD
In 2016, he presided over the spatial integration design of Qingdao Rail Transit Line 13, created the AUD art-oriented urban design system concept (Art oriented Urban Design), and presided over the "Research on the Role of Public Art in the Development of Emerging Urbanization" from the Ministry of Culture.
