Graduated from the Central Academy of Art and Design (now Tsinghua University Academy of Fine Arts). Since 1991, he has stayed on to teach at the school and served as the executive editor of "Design" magazine. He used to be the Director of the Landscape Planning Implementation Division of the Cultural Activities Department of the Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee and the Director of the Art Department of the National Centre for the Performing Arts.

Member of China Artists Association, Secretary General of Industrial Design Art Committee of China Artists Association; Deputy Secretary General of Design Committee of China Packaging Federation. Vice Chairman of the Fiber Art Committee of the Chinese Academy of Arts and Crafts, Deputy Secretary-General of the Zhang Ding Art Research Center of Tsinghua University, Vice Chairman of the Beijing Industrial Design Promotion Association, member of the Central Cultural Committee of the Democratic League, and deputy director of the Cultural Committee of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Democratic League. Visiting professor of the School of Art of the Central Academy of Cultural Management, a member of the Beijing Cultural and Creative Industry Fund Expert Database, and a member of the Twelfth Five-Year Cultural Industry Planning Project Group of the Ministry of Culture.

He has won the Ikuo Hirayama Award of Japan, the "China Star" Best Design Award, the China Excellent Brand Image Design Award and the Golden Finger Award, and the Silver Award of the China Design Contribution Award. In 2008, he was awarded the honorary title of "Beijing Olympics Advanced Individual" by the Beijing Municipal Party Committee, Municipal Government and Olympic Organizing Committee. Won the Outstanding Contribution Award of China Packaging Design Industry; Won the Most Influential Graphic Designer Award of China Advertising Design Billboard. The "Beautiful Olympic Culture Scroll" that he presided over won the 2012 Hong Kong Printing Award Merit Award and the 2013 Chinese Printing Award Grand Prize.
